My friend Jack Williams messaged me this morning. His church is currently doing 21 days of prayer and fasting, meeting for prayer in the mornings. This morning their scripture passage was Psalm 150.
As he began to reflect on the Psalm, he gave some thoughts to his journey and wrote this in response. With his permission, I share it here:
An American Psalm
Praise the Lord in the midst of depression,
___despair and desperation.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord in loneliness,
___sorrow and isolation.
Praise the Lord in sickness and in death.
Praise Him in anxiety and fear.
Praise the Lord Praise the Lord in loss,
___confusion and exhaustion.
Praise Him when we are overwhelmed
___and our spirits are crushed.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord when our hearts are broken,
___our emotions are shattered
___and our eyes are filled with tears.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord on the mountain top
___and in the valley.
Praise Him on the turbulent seas
___and on dry ground.
Praise Him on the rocky road
___and on the smooth, straight path.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord for His goodness and His kindness.
Praise the Lord for His mercy,
___His grace and His peace.
Praise Him for His love and His presence.
Praise the Lord.
Praise Him because He is Lord.
Praise Him because He is worthy.
Praise the Lord.
