“Am I the only one who sees this—am I just imagining things? Is something wrong with me . . . or could this be abuse?”
Abuse is a biblical word and category of sin—a real evil that God hates, addresses, and calls his people to respond to with courage and truth. I believe that over the next few years, we will see a significant uncovering and addressing of spiritual abuse in American Christian institutions.
I recently had the opportunity to interview Wade Mullen, author of the forthcoming book Something’s Not Right: Decoding the Hidden Tactics of Abuse—and Freeing Yourself from Its Power. (Pre-order two copies of this book—one to read and one to share with a friend.)
Wade has experience with institutional abuse both as a victim and through his extensive study of hundreds of cases. His website offers good material to help you understand and respond to abuse.
In this talk, Wade explains how to spot spiritual abuse, especially within a church. Please take an hour to listen, and then share it with others.
